◆＜ブリュモン・スタイルの始まり＞ 1980年、このテロワールからグラン・ヴァンが生まれると直感したアランはシャトー・モンテュスと20haの畑を購入。
これは彼の人生の大きな賭けでした。
彼にとっては素晴らしい財宝のような土地でも、大きな平たい丸い石に覆われたこの地を誰もポテンシャルがあると思っていなかったのです。
数年かけ、様々なぶどう品種を各テロワールに植えて、全くの独学で試行錯誤を繰り返す中、この地こそが最高品質のワインを生み出すテロワールに違いないという直感は、いつしか確信へと変わり ました。
アラン・ブリュモンは1985年に、かつて誰も行わなかった、タナ80%、カベルネ・ソーヴィニョン20%というアッサンブラージュのシャトー・モンテュスを発売して大きな注目を集めてからも、テロワールを反映したグラン・ヴァンのリリースを重ね、フランスの著名なワイン評論家、ミッシェル・ベタンヌに「他のアイコンと呼ばれた人々が300年かけて築いた実績を、彼はわずか30年で成し遂げてみせた」と言わせるまでの生産者となったのです。
◆＜最高のテロワール＞ ピレネー山脈に並行するように20kmにわたって連なる10ほどのテロワール。
ガレ、メニール状の巨石、小石が混じる赤粘土質に灰色粘土質、白粘土質、そして砂利質……狭い範囲にこれだけ多彩なテロワールが混在するマディランのような土地は非常に珍しく、フランスでも他に類を見ません。

他の生産者は斜面を避けて真南にぶどうを植えているのに対し、アラン・ブリュモンでは異なる気象特性を生かすため東西南北の四方を向いた、急斜面で栽培したり、この地方では伝統的にひと枝につき2つの房を残すところ、アラン・ブリュモンは1つにしたり、独自の理論でぶどう栽培をしています。
また、畑の周りの生態系を守るというのも特徴のひとつです。
むやみに開墾することなく、動物・植物・ぶどうの株の根元に生える下草や苔などを 自然のままに残すことで、土壌の下では微生物の活動が盛んになり、ぶどうの樹に養分を送りこむことができるため、ぶどうの品質向上につながるのです。
さらに、アラン・ブリュモンにとって、所有する90のテロワールを見て回り、現場のスタッフに話を聞くのが欠かせない日課となっています。

美しい森に囲まれた、まるでおとぎ話に出てくるお城のようなそのシャトーは、1793年から所有者が変わることなく、かつてメドック格付け第二級シャトー、ピション・バロンや格付け第三級のパルメの株主でもあった、由緒正しい家柄であるブテイエ家が所有しています。

大学生時代にアルバイト先のフレンチレストランでワインに出会い、「いつか自分の手でワインを造ってみたい」という夢を抱いた青年は、1995年、頼るつてもなく単身渡仏。

仕込むワインのテロワールや個性を研究し尽くした上で、樽の選定眼や熟成方法を駆使してワインを磨き上げます。
